Kids Party Food - Halloween snack apples and candyfloss

In the Halloween party held on last Sunday, I had made a funny and healthy snack for kids.

That was the teeth made by apples and candyfloss!

I tried to make this because I thought that this was easy to make.

But I was wrong, this one required some techniques to make it well.

Most important, I had to find a way on preventing the apples turning brownish cos we would only eat the party food after playing games.

Thanks for Colors on the Wall (https://www.facebook.com/coloronthewallsetsy)! She taught me to sprinkle a little pineapples juice over the apples. The acid helps to prevent apples from turning brown.

This really works! I did that and the apples only turn a little brownish after two hour's game time.

When I cut the apples into slices, I found that cutting the apples horizontally, instead of vertically, could have lips in better round shapes. Because if you cut the apples vertically, the apple is wider on the top and narrower at the bottom. The lips shapes will look strange.

Originally, I thought that I could just use toothpicks at both ends of the teeth to fix the positions of the teeth. But I was wrong. When I did that, the teeth in the middle went in and out as the surface of the apple was wet and slippery.

Thus, finally, I used half toothpick to fix one tooth, and used two toothpicks to fix both sides of the mouth.

Fortunately, this looked great and the kids liked them!

How do you think about it??

Kids Crafts - Halloween

Last Sunday, we held a small Halloween Party at home.

We had invited a few friends to our party.

Only a few friends could join because now is the testing or examination period, most of the children need to study at home.

My son is having tests too. But I want him to relax, instead of just study and study.

Before the party, my son and I decorated the house.

I had seen a photo from the web that some people decorated their house doors with funny faces.

This gave me inspirations. I decided to decorate the fridge and piano with funny faces.

We used colored papers, old magazines and paper plates to make them.

Then, stick them with blu-Tack, so that no mess!

How do you think??

Kids crafts - Halloween skeleton

Below was the homework my son done in last Halloween.

It was the story book cover.

He drew this by himself! I asked him why he knew how to draw the skeleton?

He said he saw this in a book that he read.

I think it is truly great! I like the sharp colors that he used around the skeleton.

But when you see carefully, there is a problem with its teeth!

How come it has three rows of teeth?? lol!

My son also laughed when I pointed out this careless mistake, lol!

How do you think about this skeleton??

Funny Exhibitions for Kids (2)

Besides a lot of musical instruments made by recycling materials, there were other funny games in the exhibitions.

Children could draw freely on glass. My son liked this very much. Maybe because he do not have chance to do this at home, lol!

Funny Exhibitions for Kids (1)

Recently, we went to the Cultural Museum.

Do not think that the things exhibited in the museum are always boring!

This time the exhibition was so funny. It was totally for kids, about hearing and visual arts.

My son enjoyed this very much!

Bottle Crafts - Water Rocket

In summer holiday, I let my son to learn how to make water rocket in a YMCA class.

The water rocket that can be flied high in the sky after injecting water into the bottle.

But this class truly let me down.

The teacher only demonstrated how to make the nozzle and flied the rocket in the class.

She did not give my son any material to make the nozzle and asked us to buy them ourselves.

That is crazy! The cost of the class should have included the materials necessary for making the water rocket, I assume.

We really don't know where to buy the nozzle. Even if we know, we do not have the tools to cut the bottle cap in order to insert the nozzle.

At last, we give up completing the water rocket for my son!

My son, of course, feel disappointed about that!

But I like the rocket decorated by my son. That looks great, especially using strings to make curves and put circle foams in between the curves. That make it looks special!

Though this rocket cannot fly high in the sky, it is a great toy. My son likes using his hands to fly it. lol!

Paper crafts - Blank Puzzles / Jigsaw

I saw some blank puzzles in a shop.

I decide to buy for my son.

This really inspires creativity.

My son can draw anything on it as he likes, and then play with it.

If he doesn't want to play it, it can be hanged as a home décor.

Or, he can draw something and then send it to grandparents as gift in Thanksgiving day!

What a great idea!
